Mong Kok does its best work after dark. Neon signs switch on, the street markets fill up, and dinner in Hong Kong easily runs until nine or ten. By then, your feet have usually had enough. Because so many of our guests arrive late — after a long dinner, a day of meetings or a full day of sightseeing — SHO MOKU SPA is open every day until 1am. Here is how to make a late massage part of a good evening.

A simple Mong Kok evening

  1. Early evening — the markets. Start on Tung Choi Street for the Ladies' Market, then wander over to Fa Yuen Street, known locally as Sneakers Street. If you have more time, Temple Street Night Market is a short walk south towards Yau Ma Tei.
  2. Dinner. Mong Kok is full of cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style cafés), noodle shops and dessert places. Keep it relatively light if your massage follows soon after.
  3. Around 9–11pm — massage. Book ahead on WhatsApp; this is our busiest window, especially on weekends.
  4. Back to your hotel. Mong Kok MTR is about five minutes on foot from us, and taxis are easy to find on Waterloo Road and Nathan Road.

Which treatments suit the evening?

At night, most people want to relax and sleep well rather than be pummelled. Our evening favourites:

  • Foot reflexology — done in a reclining chair, no changing needed. Perfect after a day on your feet.
  • Aromatherapy oil massage — slow, flowing strokes that help quiet a busy mind.
  • Hot stone massage — deep warmth for muscles chilled by Hong Kong's famously strong air conditioning.
  • Express Offer — 25 minutes of head, shoulder and neck plus 50 minutes of foot massage for HK$318.

If you prefer firm pressure, a meridian acupressure or Thai massage is fine too — just mention you'd like to sleep afterwards, and your therapist will finish on a gentler note.

Good to know

After dinner

Leave about an hour between a big meal and a full-body massage. After something light, half an hour is usually enough. A foot massage is the most comfortable option straight after eating.

After drinks

If you have had more than a drink or two, we'd suggest coming another night — alcohol dulls your sense of pressure and can make you light-headed. After a single drink, just tell us; we'll keep the pressure light and skip heated treatments.

Last bookings

A 100-minute session needs to start earlier than a 50-minute one. If you're thinking of coming close to closing time, message us first and we'll tell you what is possible.

Sleep better afterwards

  • Drink a glass of water when you get back.
  • Have a warm, not hot, shower.
  • Keep screens to a minimum — let the relaxation do its work.
